The Annie Club Brush, model 2161, is a club shaped hair brush built on a polished natural hardwood body in light brown, carrying a 50/50 blend of natural boar and firm nylon bristles at medium firmness. The club shape is a long standing barber form: the bristle face is narrower than a paddle brush, so the same hand pressure concentrates into a smaller area and the brush gives precise control along a hairline, a nape, a part or the edge of a beard, where a wide face overshoots. The two fibers do different jobs. The natural boar smooths the hair cuticle and carries the oil that sits at the scalp down the length of the strand, which conditions the hair and produces a low, even shine with no product added, while the firm nylon grips the shaft and supplies the directional pressure needed to set and hold a wave pattern. Medium is the middle firmness, sitting between soft and hard: enough tension for reliable pattern maintenance, without the scalp fatigue a hard brush causes over a long daily session. In daily use it handles general smoothing, laying a part, dressing a beard and finishing a style after cutting. It is a smoothing and wave brush rather than a detangling tool, so it is not the right choice for long, wet or badly knotted hair, and on very fine or thinning hair a soft Annie brush is more comfortable.
